The Porterhouse is a thick, full face T-bone that features a full New York Strip on one side of the "T" and a Filet Mignon on the underside of the bone.

In the early 1800's a 'porter house' was a place where stagecoaches could stop and travelers would dine on steak and ale. One particular porter house keeper in New York City began to serve this steak, and it gained widespread popularity, and its name.
